Two thoughts

Thought 1: CMA CGM Rodolphe is at Paranagua now. I wish I was there too.

Thought 2: Today was a day of long drive. Cachi to Cafayate is 160 kms mostly along gravel route. It was expected to take 4 hours and we took just about 10 hours.

Before we left Cachi, we took a detour to see the Alien landing strip and topped up fuel. On the way, we stopped several times for breathtaking scenery and small exceptional events like a farmer drying his tomatoes.

Our interim aim was to be able to see the weaver’s at work.

This drive with numerous stops, together with a detour at Seclantas to see the weavers at work, was very taxing for the driver (I drove for a short stretch and returned the wheel so I could make the 1000 photos because of the changing landscape).

We also got to see a couple of uniformed men with the AK47 at the Plaza Seclantas where we wondered what was happening. We had seen this before when ATMs were being filled with cash. When Ri came back from the inner dining room with the news that the TV was also showing some news full of armed uniformed men, we wondered what was happening in Argentina. I googled and there was nothing new – usual bond and IMF related financial troubles. That did not warranty these guns. We finished lunch around the siesta time and came out to find the place deserted!

We stopped next at Angastaco where we had coffee and just got a glimpse of the town.

Here is a short glimpse of the drive until I get sometime to write more. Here is a video and a photo – video -> Route40 – end of gravel

  1. Waiting for the next…seeing tomatoes being dried on the road reminded me so much of papadams and fish being dried on the road in Trombay, a fishing village near Anusakti nagar.
