Chair…. brings back memories

Today the 2-nd officer sent us some photos of the crew and the ship that made us very nostalgic.

It made me search in YouTube and I found this video of the ship being tugged out of the Santos port – the second port we had stopped at!

Before I left on the ship, someone had questioned me on whether it was wise for us to do the trip on the ship. The question was whether I should not be using the time to first come to India and settle down…

Locked down, since we came to India in March, the question did occur to me a few times whether we should have chosen the sequence differently. This lasted until a friend told me: “What a good thing it is that you went on the container trip when you did and travelled when you did! You would probably not have been able to do this for at least the next one year…”.

Thank God for friends! They certainly show you a different perspective… a couple of days ago, one of the crew told me, while chatting, that no passengers were allowed this time onboard – the ship is sailing from Singapore to Rio de Janeiro with just the crew. The last trip on this route was when we travelled and that was the last one when they had passengers… it is not clear when that will open up!

It was indeed one of the best experiences of my life…
